Why does anything matter?
It is a valid question. Often times, however, the answer is simply ignored because the follow-up question (“What do I do about it?”) is too overwhelming or distasteful. I’m guilty of it too.
Today, I want to answer that question so I don’t forget it.
Why does any of this matter?
Why rest on Saturday, rather than any day or Sunday? Why so much fuss to live by the Torah? Why try to live healthy and avoid “toxins”? Why avoid pork and shrimp?
I understand. “Avoidance Christianity” has us all over-burdened and weary. One more thing to add to our extensive list of “don’ts” is more than we can bear. It’s hard enough living as it is. Besides, it’s just a small deed, right? It won’t make an actual difference in my life or eternity either way, right? It won’t actually make the world any better, right?
Sermon after sermon, week after week, “Avoidance Christianity” is all I heard. I learned to tune it out, like everyone else, and say, “I’m doing the best I can. In the end, it just doesn’t matter. I don’t have time to be a religious zealot. It’s too hard. My life is difficult enough as it is.”
The worst bit is after loading all the burdensome “Avoidance Christianity” rules onto us, they say something like, “You know why you won’t do it? Because you’re sinful and wicked. There’s no other possible explanation.” Like, maybe… I don’t know… those zealous extra rules really are that burdensome?
Every Bible study I went to had the SAME routine: read scripture, be convicted, list a bunch of abstract “should’s,” awkward silence, then someone says, “It’s so hard!” No solution is given and we all go home heavy-hearted and say, “That’s okay. It doesn’t really matter if I can’t do anything about it.” You’ve been there.
That’s how I lived for many years. I told myself the same thing everyone else did: It doesn’t matter because there’s nothing I can do about it. It doesn’t matter because I’m focussed on what’s most important–getting out of bed and feeding my family something. It doesn’t matter because Yeshua loves me anyway and I have a good heart. It doesn’t matter because scripture was written long ago and things have changed. It doesn’t matter because I can’t possibly do anything to stop the misery of this life. It doesn’t matter because no one actually knows where sickness comes from.
What changed? I got smart, for one. I started researching. One at a time, I learned about how the world really works. I learned that there IS something I can do about it!
You can change things. It IS possible.
It matters. It matters a LOT.
Why does no one know about this? Because the Truth is hard to swallow. We Christians remind ourselves of that every sermon. No one likes hearing the Truth.
Brace yourself, okay? You’re not going to like this Truth at first, but it’s still the Truth. It’s uncomfortable, but it’s worth it!
Scripture says, though, that the Truth is NOT burdensome (1 John 5:3). It is so stupid easy, in fact, that not a single living soul will have ANY excuses on the Day of Judgment. Whatever Yehovah commands may be hard because of persecution from others, but it is never too hard for you to do. In Yeshua, you CAN do what He commands. It’s only when men add their burdensome traditions and extra righteousness rules that things get impossible (Matt. 23). Yeshua calls us to dump the extra man-made rules if they’re getting in the way of doing what HE says to do (Matt. 11:28-30).
Ready? Here we go.
Why I Decided to Change Things
A Parent Worth Honoring
When I became pregnant, I decided to find out what the scripture really says about parenting. As much as our own parents intend the best for us, everyone is ultimately flawed. The best way I could honor their efforts is build on the good foundation they gave me by searching the truth out for myself. Yehovah willing, I could finish the good work that my parents started.
I researched health, vaccines, parenting, breastfeeding, infant care, pregnancy, labor, cancer, disease. In every single topic, the solution remained the same: simply do what was already written in the Torah.
It’s all there! The answers to cancer, death, poverty, disease, suffering, injustice, parenting, LIFE! While that is very good news, no one seems to want to stomach the opposite side of the coin: we are all suffering because we refuse to live by the Torah.
There is much more this story than I can fit in just one paragraph. I tried to summarize it as best I could. It was a very hard journey but it was so worth it!
The word “Torah” does not actually mean “law.” When it was translated into Greek, the word they used in the Greek does mean “law.” But in Hebrew, the word “Torah” is closest in meaning to “pointing the way” like an archer aiming at a target. It is also very similar to the word for “Parent.” I don’t think this is a coincidence!
Here’s the truth: regardless of what you believe, your body operates according to the commands of written in the Torah. If you break the Torah, your health and body suffer. Eventually, those choices catch up to you and result in early death. Believe all you want, but you cannot change Nature.
Nature bows to the commands of the Torah. Follow them, you’ll live. Break them, you’ll die. It’s just the truth.
It was not just that I theologically believed in following the Torah. I had found out that it was LITERALLY true. The idea that Yehovah is in full command of Nature and its Laws produced fear in me–the good kind of fear.
Nature has a Law that no one can change. Yehovah is the One who set that Law in motion. Everyone obeys that Law and fears it. You’ve heard things like, “Don’t cross the street when a car is coming” or “Always wash your hands or you’ll get sick or endanger someone else.”
We readily obey those Laws of Nature. The problem is that Christians don’t actually believe Yehovah is the Author of those Laws and he should be feared and obeyed in the same way. Who said that we should wash our hands? Yehovah did, of course. In his Torah. Long before medieval people figured out that hand washing was necessary, Yehovah’s people were doing it all along.
I wanted to have a healthier lifestyle so that my children and I can thrive. That would mean finding out how Nature works and obeying its laws instead of my own. I do not command Nature. It commands ME! So when I learn that breastfeeding is best for my baby, I committed to breastfeeding. I also committed to eating locally, reducing waste and plastics, and eating a more plant-based diet. Was I doing it to earn more health or look good for other people? No, of course not. I was doing it because its the right thing to do and I want to enjoy living life. To live life, I have to abide by its rules.
Yehovah is the Lord of both Nature and Righteousness. He set the SAME Law to govern both worlds: the Torah. If I want to be healthy and live long, I should obey the Torah. If I want to be healthy spiritually and live for eternity, I should obey the Torah.
Spiritual health and physical health might actually be the same thing. They’re closer than Christians think they are, that’s for sure. Paul says that “don’t you know you are the Temple of the Ruak Hakodesh (Holy Spirit)?” He then lists “uncleanness” as one of the things that defile your body so the Ruak Hakodesh cannot live in you. What uncleanness was he referring to? As always, he was teaching from the Torah. One of the things that cause uncleanness is eating pork.
Life is in the Blood
An eight-year-old girl who received the heart of a ten-year-old murdered girl had horrifying nightmares of a man murdering her donor. The dreams were so traumatic that psychiatric help was sought.
The girl’s images were so specific that the psychiatrist and the mother notified the police.
Using the most detailed and horrid descriptive memories provided by the little girl, the police gathered enough evidence to find the murderer, charge him, and get a conviction for rape and first-degree murder.https://owlcation.com/stem/your-second-brain-is-in-your-heart
Who you are is what you do. What you do also becomes who you are.
What you are is what you eat (and also what you inject directly into your bloodstream).
Scripture says “What a man sows, that he will also reap.” Each choice you make has consequences. While everyone acknowledges that, the most popular response to that is, “Why should I care about the consequences? They can’t be greater than just a minor inconvenience.” That’s what we’re here to talk about, why you absolutely DO care about the consequences.
Yeshua said everyone will be judged by the choices he/she made. He told the Pharisees that they had no love for God in their hearts and did not really believe in the Torah. He said that if you believed Him you would DO what he commands.
Spiritual is also literal. Yehovah is literally the Holy One and Author of Life and Ruler of Nature. His One Truth can be seen in everything literal and spiritual. He is the Lord of both.
In the Torah, Yehovah said, “These words I speak to you today shall be on your heart.” He commanded them to live the Torah, wear a reminder of them (tassels), speak them often, and teach them to their children.
Christians don’t actually believe this is literally true. As with many things in scripture, they “spiritualize” it–a fancy term for saying it is not really true but just an illusion of the mind.
No one told me in all the 20 years I went to church that the nature of the heart was not just “spiritual” but also quite literal. Your heart literally contains all you are. Yeshua was talking about their literal heart.
Amazing new discoveries show that the heart organ is intelligent and that it sometimes can lead the brain in our interpretation of the world around us, and in the actions we chose to take. A large number of case studies were enough to prompt some scientists to look differently at the heart and test old theories that the heart is involved in our feelings, emotions and premonitions.https://owlcation.com/stem/your-second-brain-is-in-your-heart
Things you may not know about your blood:
- Your heart is a “second brain” that remembers things very vividly
- Your blood contains your emotions and DNA. The blood of animals does as well. If you eat anything with animal blood in it, that animal and its emotions become PART of you. Literally. Now go watch the slaughterhouse footage.
- Toxins enter your blood all the time. No one can fully prevent that. But we CAN take care of our body’s natural cleansing process. Our kidneys and liver are designed to clean the blood. Now ask yourself this: what if your body is not flushing ALL the toxins? Disease and inflammation is the result of toxin buildup. Imagine your body full of poop. That’s pretty close to how Yehovah sees it too. Now imagine all those toxins being pumped through your heart every day. Unsurprisingly, preventing this SAME toxin buildup is a big deal to Yehovah too. He literally takes good care for us and literally loves us. His instructions are meant to save us, not condemn. They are so good! He told us not to eat pork, among other things, because that’s what Love does. Why are Christians so resistant to Yehovah loving them? Or maybe they just do not fear Him as their literal God.
- Inflammation is what happens when there is something bad inside your system. Inflammation is the work of your immune system (within your blood) trying to cleanse your body. Remember how sin is cleansed by fire? That’s exactly the way your body is built, literally. Inflammation is your body burning up toxins the same way Yehovah burns up evil. In short, if you don’t follow the laws of nature, you burn. If you don’t follow the laws of Yehovah, you burn. So if you want to live… stay alkaline and don’t burn. That is Good Health in a nutshell.
Inflammation is like a fire in your body you cannot see or feel. “It’s a smoldering process that injures your tissues, joints, and blood vessels, and you often do not notice it until significant damage is done,” says Dr. Andrew Luster, of the Center for Immunology and Inflammatory Diseases at Harvard-affiliated Massachusetts General Hospital. The damage might show up as arthritis, heart disease, stroke, and even Alzheimer’s disease.https://www.health.harvard.edu/staying-healthy/playing-with-the-fire-of-inflammation
More fun facts:
If you hurt someone who loves you, you’re literally breaking their heart.
If your heart contains memories and emotions, what you spend the most time on and enjoy is what is most on your heart. Literally. That’s why love is an action and not just a feeling.
Cure for Cancer
Did you know that there is a cure for cancer? Did you know that it is something everyone has access to? Did you know cancer is preventable and we know exactly what causes it?
I’m going to list resources showing you what I mean at the end of the article. Check it out when you’re ready!
This reality makes me weep!
Take a tour through Children’s Mercy and tell me you don’t want answers. Tell me you’re not sick of children dying needlessly. Look around you next time you’re in church or any other huge gathering and count how many people are sick, dying, injured, or has a loved one who is. Tell me you’re not sick of hearing about miscarriages and SIDS. Tell me there’s nothing we can do about the fact that America has the highest infant mortality rate and cancer is so common people don’t even think its a problem!
My last straw I think was when the pastor at a church we went to announced gravely, “I have cancer.” And in the same breath said he ate poorly, has diabetes, but isn’t ashamed of his choices and has no intention of changing what he eats. Because “it doesn’t matter.” Now he’s dying and everyone says, “Why God? Why is this happening?” As if disease just randomly appears on people for no reason. What if there is a reason? What if our choices DO matter? What if we CAN change them?
The worse bit? I could have stopped it. Do you have any idea what that feels like? Someone is DYING and I have it in my power to stop it–but they won’t listen.
My neighbor’s baby is sick all the time and I constantly hear of her going to the emergency room. I tried to tell her mother the truth, but she doesn’t want to hear it. I can’t even stop a BABY from dying just ten feet away from me!
So much needless death and suffering! When is it going to be too much? When are we going to say “no more!”
Remember the Black Death (Trigger Warning!)
The Black Death remains one of the greatest mysteries. No one can prove for sure how it happened or where it came from. We have a few very good guesses. Research on it continues.
*Trigger Warning: Graphic*
The grief and rage from what happened in the Black Death still resonate in us today. It claimed 25 million people in Europe alone. Total death count may be close to 100 million. Perfectly healthy people would suddenly drop dead within 3 days. Some were not so lucky and endured the full torture of the disease.
Their descriptions are broadly similar, pointing to fever, headache, lethargy, dark patches or small black pustules on the skin, and buboes or swollen lymph glands in the armpit, groin, or neck. Other symptoms included nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, and the coughing up of blood. In The Decameron, Boccaccio describes the “plague-boils” of the Black Death as “certain swellings, either in the groin or under the armpits, whereof some waxed of the bigness of a common apple, others like unto an egg, some more and some less.” The English chronicler Geoffrey le Baker wrote that victims “were tormented by boils which broke out suddenly in various parts of the body, and were so hard and dry that when they were lanced hardly any liquid flowed out. . . . Other victims had little black pustules scattered over the skin of the whole body.” Medieval observers stressed how quickly the disease progressed, noting that death usually came within three days. https://quod.lib.umich.edu/f/frag/9772151.0006.001/–black-death-bodies?rgn=main;view=fulltext
It spread so fast that before anyone knew what was happening, it was far too late. In just 3 months death was upon them like a thief in the night. No one was prepared. The bodies of the dead littered the streets faster than anyone could bury them. The site almost became normal–walking by a hundred dead bodies of friends, relatives, neighbors, children. The bodies had to be eventually dumped in mass graves.
It brought a horrific and sudden end to the feudal system, Medieval Era, and domination of the Catholic church.
The plague presented itself in three interrelated forms. The bubonic variant (the most common) derives its name from the swellings or buboes that appeared on a victim’s neck, armpits or groin. These tumors could range in size from that of an egg to that of an apple. Although some survived the painful ordeal, the manifestation of these lesions usually signaled the victim had a life expectancy of up to a week. Infected fleas that attached themselves to rats and then to humans spread this bubonic type of the plague. A second variation – pneumonic plague – attacked the respiratory system and was spread by merely breathing the exhaled air of a victim. It was much more virulent than its bubonic cousin – life expectancy was measured in one or two days. Finally, the septicemic version of the disease attacked the blood system…
The violence of this disease was such that the sick communicated it to the healthy who came near them, just as a fire catches anything dry or oily near it. And it even went further. To speak to or go near the sick brought infection and a common death to the living; and moreover, to touch the clothes or anything else the sick had touched or worn gave the disease to the person touching.https://www.eyewitnesstohistory.com/plague.htm
These are images of the Black Death on a man who caught it recently (caution: they’re very graphic!).
These images are what everyone saw when the got out of bed in the morning. One day, they were living their normal life. The next, they woke up to everyone dead. Terror struck everyone’s hearts as they realized that they’re next. And there was nothing they could do to stop it.
They did what they could: they called for the elders of the church to pray for them to be healed. But no one was healed. The opposite happened–all the clergy who came to heal the sick also caught the disease and died. There was no distinction.
The Catholic church had long been the mediators between God and man. Why did they not know this was coming? Why did they not warn anyone? Why were the church leaders dying just like everyone else? Why was God punishing them with everyone else? Could the Catholic church be wrong?
Distrust in God and the church, already in poor standing due to recent Papal scandals, grew as people realized that religion could do nothing to stop the spread of the disease and their family’s suffering. So many priests died, too, that church services in many areas simply ceased.
Jewish populations, meanwhile, were frequently targeted as scapegoats. In some places, they were accused of poisoning the water because their mortality rates were often significantly lower, something historians have since attributed to better hygiene. This prejudice was nothing new in Europe at the time, but intensified during the Black Death and led many Jews to flee east to Poland and Russia, where they remained in large numbers until the 20th-century.https://www.livescience.com/2497-black-death-changed-world.html
The psychological effects of the Black Death were reflected north of the Alps (not in Italy) by a preoccupation with death and the afterlife evinced in poetry, sculpture, and painting; the Roman Catholic Church lost some of its monopoly over the salvation of souls as people turned to mysticism and sometimes to excesses.
Anti-Semitism greatly intensified throughout Europe as Jews were blamed for the spread of the Black Death. A wave of violent pogroms ensued, and entire Jewish communities were killed by mobs or burned at the stake en masse.https://www.britannica.com/event/Black-Death
Enraged Catholics who blamed the Jews for starting the Plague stormed into Jewish homes and murdered about 2000 of them. Because of the Torah, the Jews had better hygiene and therefore were largely untouched by the Black Death. The Jews fled to Poland and Russia where they stayed in large numbers until the Holocaust.
The Black Plague has happened before, in 1 Samuel. The Philistines captured the Ark of the Covenant and put it in their Temple. Their god Dagon fell down before the Ark twice (the pope wears the exact same uniform that Dagon has! Why on earth?!). The Black Plague broke out. In a panic, the Philistines sent the Ark back to the Israelites (smart move). The Black Plague stopped.
The Black Death may have also been one of the Ten Plagues of Egypt in Exodus, scientists have found:
The third plague, lice, could mean either lice, fleas or gnats based on the Hebrew word (Keenim). If a toxic algal bloom led to the first plague, and a pile of dead frogs followed, it’s not surprising that a swarm of insects of some sort would have followed. That’s because frogs typically eat insects; without them, the fly population could have exploded, Stephan Pflugmacher, a climatologist Leibniz Institute for Water Ecology and Inland Fisheries in Berlin, said in a television special about the plagues that aired on the National Geographic Channel in 2010. Interestingly, both body lice and fleas can theoretically transmit the bacteria Yersinia pestis, which causes bubonic plague, according to a 2010 study published in the journal Emerging Infectious Diseases. If so, then an infestation with lice could have set the stage for the later plagues, such as boils, a 2008 review of plague science found. Scientists have also argued that the sickness that killed the beasts of the field for Egyptians in later plagues might have been Bluetongue or African horse sickness, both of which can be spread by insects from this plague, according to a 2008 Yale Journal of Biology and Medicine.https://www.livescience.com/58638-science-of-the-10-plagues.html
Yehovah brought the Black Death. Deep down, you and I both know that to be true. He brought an Egyptian Plague on mankind–in the NEW Testament era! Surely, Yehovah doesn’t do all those Old Testament judgments still, does He? How could He without His Torah?
Exactly. How, indeed.
The prevention for the Black Plague remains the same as it did in the Old Testament: live by the Torah. Today. Post-Messiah. Nothing has seemed to change. Don’t you wonder why Israel always has so much favor on them?
What if it happens again? Everyone in the church is asking this question. In fact, it is not “what if” anymore. It’s when. We KNOW Yehovah is coming again. We KNOW he will draw a fine line between the righteous and the wicked. What Law will he judge us by?
What other Law is there? The Torah.
Imagining how fast and furious the Black Death overcame my ancestors so long ago, it produced a healthy fear in me. It happened once, it will happen again. I do not want to be caught by Yehovah’s Consuming Fire. I want to stand in safety behind Israel and the Torah–even if it means enduring persecution. I’d rather fear Yehovah than fear man.
Which side are you on?
Count the bodies around you. Count how many lives that cancer, disease, miscarriage, murder, violence, sex trafficking has claimed. Count the disease and brokenness within your own congregation. How many?
Is not Death already upon us?
The Delusion Cycle
One of the most asked questions in Christianity is, “Why is there so much disease? And why are there so few healings?” There are hundreds of answers. The most common one I was told is that “It’s not your fault. It’s just the world we live in. One day…”
Don’t worry, it’s normal. Disease just happens. It’s NORMAL. We can’t ever know why.
Is it really normal?
Next: “I’m glad modern medicine is here to keep those diseases at bay. We would have so much disease without it! We have longer lives now because of modern medicine.”
What if it’s the other way around?
Modern medicine is causing many of these diseases. They then sell the solution and make a huge profit.
It’s not a novel idea–every business knows this. In order to increase sales, they create the need and then offer their product as a solution. It’s just how big business works.
The truth is that disease results from poor hygiene, poor nutrition, and sin (especially sexual sin). They rise because of poor choices and then the solution is simply to reverse those poor choices and do what’s right.
- Diamonds. Did you know that they are not actually that valuable? The only reason everyone covets it is because of a brilliant marketing advertisement.
- Meat is “man’s food.” Men eat meat and grow muscles.
- Women shave. Shaving companies were losing customers as men started shaving less and growing their beards. So the companies instead advertised to women.
- Diapers. The rest of the world potty trains at about 11 months. Many don’t even use diapers. Even in America, it used to be that babies were out of diapers while they were still learning to walk. The longer diaper companies can push parents to keep diapers, the more diapers they will sell. The recommended year for potty training keeps getting mysteriously pushed far and farther out. America is the ONLY country that has 4-year-olds still in diapers!
- Formula. To make more sales, formula companies convinced doctors to push women not to breastfeed. It was advertised as bad for babies. Formula is very expensive and makes a huge profit. The rest of the world only uses it as a very last resort only after all other solutions have been exhausted. Here in America, it is now pushed as the first option above all else. Breastfeeding is making a brave comeback, however.
- The government came out with the food pyramid and told everyone that “fat” makes people “fat,” leading to a huge market of “fat-free” diets and products. People are now becoming more aware that the food pyramid is not actually true health and “fat-free” cannot make you lose weight. In fact, the opposite is true: fat is essential for health. Weight comes from poor health choices and consuming processed foods (like “fat-free” and “sugar-free” substitutes). Why did the government publish false information? Because they KNEW the truth. They originally were going to publish the RIGHT information. They had the real truth in their hand! Why did it not get out? Because big companies like the egg and dairy industry realized that publishing this truth would hurt their sales, so they took action. Watch What the Health for the full story.
Think about it: sick people are not just patients, they’re also customers. Without sick people (or gullible healthy people going in for absolutely no reason whatsoever), doctors could not be paid. A moral person would be okay with that. Remember what Martial Arts says? “May you never have to use it.”
Doctors should be concerned about public health and glad when he has no patients. If he is doing his job well, he would have NO patients, NO pay, NO profit.
As great as that sounds, tell me: How much faith do you have in the human heart to live by that moral? Do you have enough faith to believe that the government driving public health, the big bosses running the Medical Industry, and the Pharmaceutical company ALL live by that moral?
It doesn’t take much researching to figure out that they’re definitely not moral. “The love of money is the root of all kinds of evil,” scripture says. What do you think evil men who love money are going to do with that much power? What do you think they are going to do to you and your family? Should you put blind faith in them and literally sell them your body and health? How trustworthy are they, really?
The enemy comes to “steal, kill and destroy.” Proverbs says to “guard your heart for it is the wellspring of life.” What if this can be applied to your literal heart and literal blood? Is your heart keeping you alive right now? How valuable is your blood to you? Should you just hand over your heart to these wicked men? Isn’t it wise to at least ask questions and research things for yourself first?
The Delusion Cycle begins with what we all have been taught about health and disease. What you believe about your health will create a need and therefore lead you to seek a solution.
The Delusion Cycle is circular reasoning: disease exists, therefore we need doctors who are also creating those same diseases by not pushing real health. To break out of the cycle, one only needs to realize that disease is NOT NORMAL. Since when was so many children getting cancer and autism normal?
The solution I found is to eat right, stay clean, and obey Yehovah. Where do your beliefs lead you?
